Earlier this month HPS Schönox kicked off a Contest asking the question, Is your company working on a project that has what might be the worst subfloor in North America? Today, the company announced who will judge the responses to that question. Schönox put together the Worst Subfloor in North America Contest to shine a light on tough subfloor conditions, detail the best ways to renovate them, and provide some recognition and publicity for the companies who handle these challenging projects. John McGrath (Director, INSTALL,) Lew Migliore (President, LGM and Associates Technical Flooring Services,) and Jim Walker (CEO, International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association / CFI) will judge the Contest after the entry end date of December 15th. . . .

That’s the starting point for a Contest that Schönox has put together to shine a light on tough subfloor conditions, detail the best ways to renovate them, and provide some recognition and publicity for the companies who handle these challenging projects. “Too often the stability and condition of subfloors is overlooked in the flooring installation industry resulting in failed installations,” explained Thomas Trissl, HPS Schönox Principal. “With that thought in mind, Schönox has kicked off a subfloor competition for flooring companies where they can enter projects that began with damaged, unsound subfloors and were renovated using Schönox products.”. . .

HPS Schönox and Spartan Surfaces announced that they have reached an agreement that will result in a new division for Spartan Surfaces that will distribute Schönox products from Virginia to southern New Jersey. Spartan Distribution will carry the full line of Schönox subfloor products including primers and moisture mitigation systems, patching and smoothing products, floor leveling compounds, and adhesives. Headquartered in Forest Hill, Maryland, Spartan Surfaces has flooring experts in place throughout the region. HPS Schönox has expanded its team of subfloor technical associates to support this area and the extensive growth of Spartan Surfaces. . . .

HPS Schönox has assembled a product system focused on the quick turnarounds required for flooring installations in the retail sector. From priming to subfloor leveling and on to flooring installation, Schönox now has a product group designed for speed. Schönox KH Fix primer, ZM Rapid self-leveling compound, and Roll and Go™ LVT adhesive make up the retail-focused product lineup. “Our retail customers often need to do flooring installations overnight,” commented Brandon Hagen, HPS Schönox Territory Business Manager. “Our comprehensive product system will allow them to do so with speed that they have not seen before.”. . .

HPS Schönox is presenting subfloor products at the NAHB International Builders’ Show that will allow contractors to install more diverse flooring in rooms that would normally receive broadloom carpet only. The company’s self leveling compounds can be poured over uneven wood subfloors resulting in smooth, sound substrates with incredible strength and durability.. . .

HPS Schönox will demonstrate a wide range of innovative subfloor products on the Main Stage at Surfaces on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:30 – 2:00 during the Surfaces show. Primers, self leveling compounds, and adhesives will be presented that facilitate smoother, faster, and safer flooring projects. “We consistently see that first-time users of Schönox subfloor products don’t return to the old ways of preparing subfloors, leveling them, and installing floor coverings,” explained Thomas Trissl, HPS Schönox Principal. “Our objective for the demonstrations is to show how projects can be completed faster addressing tough subfloor issues with a smarter use of installation labor.”. . .

In a comprehensive initiative to encourage a serious dialog regarding environmental responsibility, product technology, and sustainability, HPS Schönox has compiled ten of the most important questions asked in those areas and presented its answers in a new program entitled Informed Decisions. HPS Schönox is introducing a product-system approach to address challenging subfloor issues common in healthcare facility renovation projects. Combinations of Schönox products can address diverse and challenging subfloor problems such as rough and uneven substrates, unsound wood subfloors, asbestos cutback, and significant moisture issues. Most importantly, Schönox can solve these subfloor issues with products that do not contain VOCs, have dust reducing properties, contribute to LEED credits, and allow installers to renovate rather than demolish existing subfloors.. . .

TMT America, Inc. (TMT) has acquired a majority interest in HPS North America, Inc. (HPS). The transaction is effective September 16th, with HPS becoming an operating subsidiary of TMT. The corporate offices for both TMT America and HPS will remain in Florence, AL. TMT will provide operational, marketing, and consulting services as well as investments to accelerate HPS’s distribution and brand development growth throughout North America.. . .
